Nasimi Beach @ The Atlantis
This week in Dubai I saw....
Hedkandi at Nasimi Beach. All I can say is WOW! What a perfect beach party! The Atlantis' beach resort located on the Palm Island in Dubai had a first time ever Hed Kandi beach party at Nasimi Beach on Friday November 20th. With over 3000 people attending, internationally known Hed Kandi delivered delicious beats and transformed the Palm into an ultimately extravagant beach clubbing experience. Dancing barefoot on the sand as the cool evening breeze brushed through my hair with a horizon view of the sea and the marina strip, young stylers around, listening to some of the best beats with shisha and food on hand I think there was nothing more I could ask for. Really. Looks like Dubai is back in action!
Until next time...bisous!
Tom Ford launches boutique @ Dubai Mall
This week in Dubai I saw....
Tom Ford. Yes that's right, Tom Ford came into town for literally 28 hours to make an appearance for his first store opening in the Middle East. I guess there was no better place to open his first boutique in the region than Dubai. A private cocktail party was held at his lavishly sleek store at the Dubai Mall on November 10th with the cities top socialites and spenders. The combination of endowed local abaya wearing women and chic expats snagging photo opportunities with the one and only Tom was surely a sight to see...I guess only in Dubai :) An even more private dinner with Tom Ford was held at the Capital Club afterwards with 35 of the most privileged guests. Lucky them!
Looks like these top western designers are really taking this market seriously... it's developing as a primary regional fashion hub and many more to come.
Until next time....bisous!

Abu Dhabi's first F1 Grand Prix
November 5th, 2009
This week in Dubai I saw....
Well not actually Dubai, Abu Dhabi really. With all the media hype over Formula 1 I thought it would be fair to author a posting dedicated to the highly awaited F1 events that took place this past weekend in Abu Dhabi. (October 29-November 1st)
I was invited by a good friend of mine to the Paddock Club; basically the best seats in the house at the F1 races. From delving into some of the region's best cuisines to taking close shots of Hamilton and Button's pit stops, I think its fair to say that I experienced the UAE's first F1 race to the fullest. Thursday (October 29th) I was fortunate to experience who in my opinion is one of the best female musical artists in the world; Beyonce. What an empowering woman! She definitely knows how to put on a show. Jamiroquai, Kings of Leon and Aerosmith also preformed throughout the F1 weekend. A popular social activity at the races was definitely "yacht hopping"-basically all the Dubai'ns and some Abu Dhabi'ns brought their yachts to the marina to watch the races for the weekend and people would go from yacht to yacht and party. Everyone who's anyone made it a point to be seen at that juncture; I think I saw half of Dubai at the marina! Amber Lounge was a popular after party that many F1 goers went to; good crowd, good music, good times.
Despite some of the messy logistics and disorganization at the concerts I think Abu Dhabi's first F1 was a success; I'm definitely going to make it a point to go next year and encourage anyone who's in town to go.
A big congrats to Vettel who won the race!
Until next week....bisous
